“I draw inspiration from a lot of different places. Since I work in so many different parts of the country, one of the first things I look to for inspiration is the location itself. I am currently working on projects in Palm Beach, Atlanta, Linville, Asheville, and Southampton, NY. In each area, there are so many beautiful colors and textures found in the natural surroundings. When I first visit a new project, I am very aware and observant of the surroundings, as well as the local vernacular architecture.”     “Additionally, I draw inspiration from my clients. I am a good listener and I really probe so that I can design the house of their dreams, not mine. I always tell them, ‘You will live here, I will leave.’ It is my goal to design a house for each of them that is a true representation of their personality and lifestyle.”

Tips

Always include an antique or two in every room. The mix of old and new is what keeps a room interesting and unique. Be realistic about your lifestyle and how you truly live. Design a house for who you are and not who you want to be.  Be mindful of trends. Karl Lagerfeld once said, “Trendy is the last stage before tacky.”
