For architect-turned-designer Ashley DeLapp of Ashley DeLapp Interior Design, go bold or go home—the two are not mutually exclusive. Known for her distinctive interiors that are as sophisticated as they are fun, DeLapp takes a bold, more-is-more approach when it comes to her designs, opting for maximalism over subtlety every time.

“I’m a huge fan of vintage pieces, whether that be furniture, lamps, or rugs,” DeLapp says. “They bring so much character and soul to a design that you can’t get when you buy everything new. I like to start there and build the room around it.” “I’m color obsessed and love adding pops of color through art, wallpaper, or a lacquered piece of furniture. Clients come to me when they want to incorporate more color into their homes but aren’t sure where to begin,” she continues.

“I definitely have a bolder design aesthetic. Mixing patterns, colors, and textures is what I enjoy most.”
